Tēnā koutou e te whānau
Thank you to everyone who joined our Health & Wellbeing Hapū Hui last week. Your kōrero, honesty, and passion have shaped a clear direction for Te Pou Hauora over the next few years.
Across all rōpū, we heard strong themes;
Rangatahi Pathways
Our rangatahi want support, mentoring, identity grounding, and local opportunities to stay connected to home.
Whānau Connection
Whānau want more time together, safe spaces, intergenerational support, and collective healing.
Te Ao Māori & Mātauranga
We want to bring the values of our tūpuna forward - strengthening tikanga, wairua, rongoā, and mātauranga Māori.
Hauora & Support Services
Whānau asked for more Māori-led health services, addiction support, mental health care, and local hauora options in Takahiwai.
Taiao & Kai
We want to reconnect with our whenua, moana, and ngahere, grow kai together, and improve our environmental wellbeing.
Community Spaces
Whānau support developing a central hub, kura-based support, and a working Marae model similar to Papakura Marae, South Auckland.
What happens next?
Te Pou Hauora is now building a Strategic Health Plan (2026 - 2030) which will include your feedback. This includes:
Rangatahi Advisory Rōpū
Whānau wānanga and support groups
Tikanga, rongoā, and mātauranga programmes
Hauora clinics and kaumātua check-ins
Gardening and kai sovereignty projects
Planning for a Patuharakeke Community & Hauora Hub
We will keep whānau updated as each pathway develops.
If you missed this hui, please note that we will be sending out a survey and holding another wānanga, so there will be more opportunities to provide your input as we wish to hear from more whānau.
If you would like to be involved in any part of this mahi, please reach out - your voice is important, and your presence strengthens our hapū.
Ngā manaakitanga
Shilane and Jaime, on behalf of Te Pou Hauora
