Seeking expressions of interest for co-option of new board member

The Patuharakeke Trust Board is seeking to co-opt a member to the Board by way of an expression of interest (EOI).


The role is voluntary and could require a time commitment of up to five hours a week responding to portfolio requirements.


Other time commitments noted are;

  • Monthly trustee meetings 3-5 hours (by Zoom or Face to face) • attending meetings relating to our governance relationships (quarterly 4 hours) • continued wananga with our whanau on Strategic cultural values (quarterly 6 hours) • support our Taiao on workshops/Wananga (quarterly 6 hours)

The portfolios overseen by the Trust are;

Housing , Kaitiakitanga , Education , Treaty Claims , Health and Wellbeing


The interest we seek is from people who have knowledge, skills and experience in tikanga Maori. In addition to this knowledge, the following experience would be helpful however it is not expected that every member will have all these skills:


  • An understanding of governance systems and structures • be forward thinking, embrace innovation, and be receptive to new ideas • have strategic thinking skills, a willingness to ask challenging questions, and assimilate and analyse information • have excellent communication and relationship skills and work effectively in a team • have good organisational skills and the time to commit to the task • have good judgement and problem-solving skills • have other specific skills, including experience or knowledge in the areas of: o Law o Health/Mental Health o Social sector o Education
